Minimum Work Requirements

In the Field

To work in the field with MAGNA, every applicant has to meet these general requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of professional experience.
  • Availability for at least 6 months. (Less time is required of surgeons, anaesthesiologists or gynaecologists.)
  • Experience in developing countries and from remote / rural areas.
  • Proven capacity for team management/supervision and training. (Every MAGNA humanitarian will have a supervisory or managerial function in the field, and will often spend more time supervising and training others than executing the work itself.)
  • Proven ability to live and work in a team. (Our teams are made up of medical and non-medical professionals of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.)
  • Willingness to work in a potentially unstable environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability. (Taking into account the changing needs in the field, activities can change rapidly, and job descriptions can also change accordingly. Work environments, security protocols, and team size/composition likewise change during posting.)
  • Stress management. (Many of our projects are located in or near conflict zones; the environment is often chaotic and volatile.)
  • Computer skills. (All of our staff write and send reports and many are involved in data collection.)
  • Ability to depart on a mission at short notice. (Some of our projects are a response to sudden crises and require field workers to be available at short notice.)
  • Language skills (mainly English and French).
  • Interest and / or experience in international humanitarian issues and international relations.
  • Previous experience in the field in a position with a non-governmental organization.

In the Office

We are constantly in need of a strong and reliable team of workers, interns, and volunteers to help the general operation of our offices.

Overall project coordination is provided by the Operations Department. The specialists in this section provide the financial, administrative, logistical, and expert assistance to make the mission successful. The Operations Department also manages acute emergency interventions, and conducts fact-finding in crisis areas.

MAGNA’s its offices are in Bratislava and Prague.

These offices are always looking for individuals with passion and commitment for our mission of providing medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, or disasters.

Every year your donations cover thousands of treatments and vaccinations.
