Why is MAGNA intervening in Haiti?

The health care system in Haiti is unable to provide medical interventions such as treatment for injuries or care for pregnant women. Political instability, conflict and natural disasters have made Haiti the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale struck the capital Port-au-Prince in January 2010. More than 300 000 people died and 1.5 million people lost their homes.

MAGNA teams spent 5 years treating victims of the earthquake and HIV/AIDS. The project ended in 2015 after a local non-profit institution took over the center.
